Is Now the time?

Derick Moore - June 2002 - JDR Catalog 104

You would be a fool to ask me, I'm always ready for an upgrade, and guaranteed willing to help you spend your hard earned cash. It isn't careful self restraint that has made me computer 'poor'..... That's all the warning you get!

Of course it's a good time to consider a Pentium P4. Intel doesn't rest on its laurels just because your last PC was fast. Fast PC's only encourage bigger and better applications. Games drive many new purchases because the benefits are so obvious in the increased detail of the display, and smoothness of the transitions.

But, a new P4 motherboard can be justified by a great many factors, some of them may surprise you!

If your current PC needs more memory, you can invest in memory for an old technology, or buy both a board and new memory. Often the expansion capabilities of a new board will make that decision for you.

If you need a new video card, you could mate a whiz bang adapter with your PCI or AGP 1X slot, or choose a new P4 motherboard with AGP 4X and really knock their socks off.

The same is true for a new hard drive, or even a processor only upgrade. In almost every circumstance, you will get more bang for your buck by considering multiple upgrades instead of one piece now, and one more later.

What you have can very well get in the way of what you want, particularly when it limits your choices. A new P4 motherboard and processor will greatly increase your options!
